The seminar aims at illustrating the meaning relationships between 'equivalent' terms of Anglo-Saxon and Latin origin in contemporary English, such as speed/velocity, sweat/perspire, lunatic/insane, before/prior, etc., and then discussing possible lexicographic representations of these relationships in monolingual dictionaries of English and bilingual English-Italian dictionaries.
