ServiziThird Language in the Bachelor's Degree (CFU F)
To fulfil the requirement of 3 CFUs F for the third foreign language, a B1-level language proficiency certificate is required in English, French, German, Russian, Spanish or an external language certificate from a recognized certifying body (for example, Cervantes, Cambridge, Goethe, etc.).
This certificate can be obtained through:
- the CLA (University Language Center)
- a certifying body accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, University, and Research.
All CFUs F are assessed with a “satisfactory” classification rather than a grade.
Please note: Recognition of a C2 level is only possible if you are enrolled in a master's degree programme.
Additional language skills in the Bachelor's degree (CFU D)
You have the option to acquire different or additional language skills beyond the mandatory ones. Additional language proficiency certificates or courses in Brazilian Portuguese and Catalan languages are offered by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
How to get a language certificate recognized and recorded in the Bachelor's degree
- For Certificates Obtained at the CLA: submit the certificate via Service desk to the Foreign Languages and Literatures Teaching and Student Services Office, specifying whether you intend to use it as part of CFU F (third language) or CFU D (free choice).
- For Certificates Obtained from External Certifying Bodies (e.g., Cervantes, Cambridge, Goethe): first, report to the CLA Testing Office to verify the certificate's equivalency. Then, submit the equivalency documentation via the Service Desk to the Foreign Languages and Literatures Teaching and Student Services Office, specifying whether it will count towards CFUs F (third language) or CFUs D (free choice).
- For Certificates in Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, or Portuguese (e.g., from the Confucius Institute, CELPE-Bras, CAPLE): Submit your certificate by May 15 or November 15 each year via the Service Desk to the Foreign Languages and Literatures Teaching and Student Services Office. Specify whether the certificate should count towards CFUs F (third language) or CFUs D (free choice).
All applications will then be evaluated by the Commission for the Recognition of External Language Skills, which will then forward the recommendation to the Teaching Committee.
Submit the request for recognition and recording in the transcript using the appropriate form available under “Documenti.”
