CFU (or ECTS) stands for Credito Formativo Universitario, the standard unit used to define the learning outcomes and associated workload of learning and study activities (exams, study, internships, etc.) required to earn a degree.

As a general rule, 1 CFU credit equates to 25 hours of work. The expected workload per year is 60 CFU: this means that students will need 180 CFU to complete their Bachelor’s degree (Laurea triennale), 120 CFU for the Master’s degree (Laurea magistrale), and 300 or 360 for the Single-cycle degree (Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico).

CFUs are obtained by passing exams or other assessment tests (or at the end of each module), regardless of the marks achieved.

“Saperi minimi” are the entry requirements, different for each specific programme, that you must meet in order to enroll.

Entry requirements may be assessed at the time of the admissions tests (for the programmes that require an admissions test) or separately, through individual tests to be taken during the first year. Failing the “Saperi minimi” test will not prevent you from registering at the University. However, you will be soon informed by the University about the number of credits (OFA credits, Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi) that you will need to regain by passing the test by the end of the first year.

In order to help students preparing for the assessment, specific courses are held during the year for each programme.

On the web page of each programme you’ll find the section “Entry requirements – OFA”, which includes entry requirements, schedule, methods of assessment, and methods of regaining credits.

Il libretto universitario è un libretto virtuale (una volta era cartaceo) in cui vengono registrati tutti gli esami che hai svolto con il relativo voto in trentesimi. Inoltre nel libretto universitario potrai monitorare l’andamento della tua carriera universitaria, trovando registrati i CFU da te accumulati e la media aritmetica e ponderata dei tuoi esami che servirà alla fine del tuo percorso per calcolare il voto di laurea.

Ogni anno accademico universitario è diviso in due semestri (primo e secondo). Il primo semestre inizia solitamente ad inizio ottobre o fine settembre a seconda del tuo corso di laurea, e termina con le vacanze di Natale o immediatamente dopo nelle prime settimane di gennaio. Il secondo semestre inizia immediatamente dopo la fine della sessione invernale di esami per terminare a fine maggio-inizio giugno con l’inizio degli esami. Durante i semestri si svolgono le lezioni previste dal tuo corso di studi.

Le sessioni di esame invece sono quei periodi dell’anno in cui sono concentrati gli appelli di esame. All’università degli Studi di Verona sono presenti tre sessioni durante l’anno accademico: la sessione invernale tra gennaio e febbraio, la sessione estive tra giugno e luglio e la sessione autunnale nel mese di settembre.

Per ogni esame del tuo corso troverai durante una sessione uno o più appelli (normalmente due) in cui potrai svolgere l’esame. Solitamente sono distanziati almeno di 15 giorni l’uno dall’altro. L’appello potrà essere in forma scritta o orale o entrambi a discrezione del Professore che tiene il corso. Per poter partecipare all’appello ricordati di prenotare l’esame sulla piattaforma esse3 alla voce esami -> appelli disponibili. Potrai prenotare l’esame da un mese prima della data fino a tre giorni prima dell’appello. Ricorda che per poterti prenotare dovrai aver seguito le lezioni dell’insegnamento e compilato il questionario presente sempre in esse3 alla voce questionari -> questionari valutazione attività didattica nel menù a tendina sulla destra.

The study plan is to be completed online, through the online platform Esse3: by logging in, students can select the modules for which they intend to take the exam, according to the specific rules of each programme. All modules chosen by the student while completing the plan will be listed in the online student’s exam booklet.

Please remember: filling in the study plan is mandatory, but you will be allowed to do so only at specific times of the year.

Do you need help with your language certification tests? You may wish to attend language lessons at the University Language Centre, or CLA (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo), where you will have the opportunity to take part in free language courses and practicals held by native speakers for all levels of language ability (from A1 to C2).

Language courses are offered in the five languages taught in our university programmes: French, English, Russian, Spanish and German, as well as Italian for international students.

Internships enable you to test the knowledge you have acquired during your university experience, as well as obtaining the required amount of CFU credits to earn your degree. However, internships are also a great opportunity to get to grips with a wide variety of work contexts, also gaining specific professional skills which will sensibly improve your chance of finding a job.

You will have the opportunity to undertake an internship in Italy or abroad, also benefiting from specific funding and scholarships for mobility.
